Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is a β-hydroxy acid. It is also the only β-hydroxy acid that is used in skin care. It is chemical exfoliant and works by encouraging the desquamation of excess dead cells from the surface of the skin to reveal smoother, healthier looking skin below. Chemical exfoliants encourage the shedding of dead skin cells by dissolving the “glue” that holds them to the surface of the skin. Unlike AHAs, which include glycolic and lactic acid, among others, salicylic acid is lipophilic, or oil soluble, which means that it can penetrate the pores to exfoliate the pore lining and dissolve clogs. This property, in addition salicylic acid's anti-inflammatory, sebostatic and anti-microbial properties, also make the ingredient a comedolytic, i.e., an ingredient that inhibits the formation of acne, which forms when sebum and dead skin cells become trapped inside the pore and can take the form of blackheads, whiteheads and pimples. Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil exhibits high oxidative stability and resistance to rancidity.
