Turmeric

Turmeric has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties and curcumin - the compound that gives turmeric its yellow colour - protects skin cells from damage. Turmeric increases the density of fibroblasts - cells that produce collagen - and blood vessels in the skin. Because of this, turmeric is able to protect against skin ageing, and helps wounds heal faster.

Honey

Honey has been used for its therapeutic value for centuries. It inhibits the growth of microbes, including the fungus responsible for fungal acne; it has anti-inflammatory properties, and promotes wound healing. It also hydrates the skin, improves blood circulation in the skin's deeper layers, and helps fight skin ageing.

Grape Seed Oil

Grape seed oil is a lightweight oil that easily absorbs into the skin. It contains a high content of linoleic acid, which research has shown is deficient in the sebum of people with acne. This makes it beneficial for people with acne prone skin. Linoleic acid also benefits the skin by helping strengthen cell membranes and shows antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.

Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant. Chemical exfoliants encourage the shedding off of dead skin cells by dissolving the “glue” that holds them to the surface of the skin resulting in smoother, healthier looking skin than before. Salicylic acid also inhibits the formation of acne, which includes blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples, that forms when sebum and dead skin cells become trapped inside the pore. Unlike AHAs, such as glycolic acid and lactic acid, salicylic acid is oil soluble and therefore, also able to go do deep into your pores and unclog them. Along with this, it also has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties, and is able to decrease the skin's rate of oil production. It is a well researched compound that is safe, effective and well tolerated by most people and works exceptionally well for mild to moderate cases of acne.

Glycolic Acid

Glycolic acid occurs naturally in sugarcane and is also a chemical exfoliant. It is the smallest alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) and is able penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, making it the most potent AHA. It is used in the treatment of dull skin, acne, scarring, melasma, hyperpigmentation and skin roughness and can also improve the appearance of wrinkles. Unlike salicylic acid, or BHA, AHAs also improve skin hydration.

Surfactant blend

Our Resurfacing Face Wash is sulfate-free and uses natural, coconut-derived surfactants to create a product that is extremely gentle on the skin. It cleans and exfoliates without drying or stripping and leaves your skin barrier intact, making it suitable even for dry skin.
